My boy is getting ready to celebrate 100 Days of Kindergarten– pause for tears– How did this happen? Didn’t I JUST give birth to this child? And now we’re preparing for the 100th Day of Kindergarten celebration. Seriously, someone come hold me.
Aaron’s teacher has lots of adorable activities planned for this big day at school, but at home we needed to make a shirt with 100 things attached and to pray at least 87 made its way back home that day. After approximately 350 suggestions from me, he decided a crazy 100-eyed monster (see the inspiration here) was the way to go. I’m not going to lie, I was a bit nervous. But this shirt came out so stinking cute, that while I know it’s not polite to toot your own horn– but TOOT, TOOT, TOOT! It really came out great. Now the same day I made cupcakes that were a hot mess, but the shirt, the shirt is RAD and was so easy to make.
Here’s what you’ll need
- 100 googly eyes
- Hot glue and hot glue gun
- Puffy Paint
- Small Paint Brushes.
- Book or magazine
First I took the shirt and put a thick book inside the shirt to give me a flat work space and to ensure the paint didn’t bleed through and cause the shirt to stick together. Then I made the outline of the monster in pencil and sectioned him off. I painted each section a different color (the kids helped) and added antenna. Then I let the monster dry completely, which took several hours. Once dry, I used my glue gun too attach all 100 googly eyes. That’s it! So easy. So cute! Plus I got this super happy face:
Next year I have no idea how we will top this super cute monster and I’m happy to report all 100 eyes made it back home. Success!
